I was born and raised in Seattle and recently located to its lovely neighbor Portland. I feel very fortunate to have grown up in the northwest and find a lot of my inspiration from the dramatically changing weather. My most basic attraction to making art and viewing art is the potential to emotionally communicate to someone. My process has become more focused on drawing rather than painting. I am interested in the way imagery has been used to illustrate stories and folk lore over time.

Since the chaboo has many planes of surface, I wanted to utilize the sides as a kind of story board. I also thought that the placement of the imagery was important. The use of monotone color pallets creates a contrast to exaggerate the bright glaring neon's that personify emotions. I find a lot of inspiration from the power that symbols can have.
