i... respect the design processes, know when to ignore the design process, am very giving, obsess over details, laugh at corny jokes, can admit when i’m wrong, want and need to design, have a positive attitude, vote, think that architecture can have the same emotional impact as music, walk for miles at a time, study anything and everything, work well with others, am bad at keeping in touch, cook, care about craft, have a need to research and learn, am interested in what really inspires and influences designers, am approximately 10% crazy, explore my own city, like when designs surprise me, can start a book and not finish it, study fashion, believe design can profoundly impact everyday life
I believe that designs need to based on user experience and user interaction. The user must be an active participant to allow a design to reach its fullest potential. With this in mind I set out onto a design process that was at a constant level of investigation- always thinking of how the user already interacts the the chaboo and how I could create a new way of interaction. In examining how to make a simple object something new I took a plain white shirt and deconstructed it by shredding it. The effect that the shredded shirt created while draped over my body was revealing and playful. It exposed my skin, my joints, my scars, but in a softened new way. I thought that the same effect could be created if the shredded pieces of clothing covered the chaboo. They could reveal its surface, its joints, its details all while keeping the integrity of the piece in tact. In the end the pieces that dress the table can dress the human body. It is up to the user to be playful and intuitive. There are an endless number of possibilities- just stay open and curious.
