About

I have been designing and creating objects of function in Portland, Oregon for the past six years and have ten years experience in the design field. Prior to my move to the northwest from Colorado, I received a bachelor’s degree in architecture. This eventually led me to the world of industrial design. My background in spatial esthetic has informed my sense of conceptual design and hands on fabrication, allowing me to move freely between both worlds. My work reflects my own appreciation for mechanics and craft. I am always excited to learn and work with new materials. I specialize in designing and fabricating for metal, wood, textiles and leather.

My Chaboo

I was really excited by the idea of the chaboo collaboration. When deciding how I wanted to collaborate I knew I wanted to match the lightness and the lines that the original chaboo holds and continue the essence of its simplicity. It was important for me in this collaboration to meet the original chaboo halfway and use the aluminum as a continuation of the lines, function and simplicity. In the end I was able to use the aluminum and make it both light and functional and continue the line through the middle. The middle serves as a functional piece as it braces the wood together and can house a pencil or pen if someone is using is as a writing surface. The aluminum is painted white in order to better blend the materials in a seamless blurred way and soften the metal.
