I have a love for both design and craft, and it is when I can do both together that I am most happy. After earning my degree in Interior Architecture at the University of Oregon this past summer I moved back to Portland, and currently work for Jessica Helgerson Interior Design . My design work and interests are in interior architecture, architecture, fibers, graphic design and environmental design.

I knew I wanted to knit a piece for the Chaboo, creating a soft contrast to the hard material of the table. I was inspired by the center strip detail in the table and wanted to replace the bamboo strip with a knit piece that would extend the original boundaries of the table. The piece is knit in a rib pattern that mimics the lines in the bamboo ply and becomes almost spine-like running through the center of the table. The pink color stems from the feeling of rawness I associated with the idea of the spine.
