an interest in building. After a few years he began to drift towards sustainable
design. He’s taken various classes involving drafting, design, and sustainability and is working towards PCC’s Green Building Certificate. For the past year he has started building and designing furniture with Miracle Factory which focuses on sustainable, attainable home furnishings.
Tim is from Okoboji, Iowa. He has lived in Portland for 15 years. He’s a green builder who has 17 + years in remodel and new construction. He’s spent the last 7 years researching green building and sustainable building solutions. He is committed to utilizing the most sustainable solutions in furniture design and construction. He started Miracle Factory 7 years ago in Portland moving from shop to shop working on developing mulitiple lines of furniture that are beautiful, locally made, and affordable to average people.
The design concept for this piece was to build a chaboo with the approach of Miracle Factory’s classic “Simpleton.” The piece carries a unique contrast from traditional furniture constrution to more modern sleek designs. All the wood is reclaimed and is finished with a waterbased low-VOC stain. It is built from Japanese cedar, hemlock, and mahogany.
